We often live our lives based on a false reality. Even after accepting Jesus as our savior and receiving the Holy Spirit we keep living the life we had before. I speak this from experience because I sometimes live from the reality of my old life instead of the now.
We are told that the temple of God is no longer located in a building but now located within every believer.
1
Corinthians 6: 19?
You should know that your body is a
temple for the Holy Spirit that you received from God and that lives in you.
You don’t own yourselves.
1
Corinthians 3: 16 You
should know that you yourselves are God’s temple. God’s Spirit lives in you.
We are also told that the Kingdom of God is not located just in Heaven but here on the earth.
Luke 17:
21? People will not
say, ‘Look, God’s kingdom is here!’ or ‘There it is!’ No,
God’s kingdom is here with you.
We are told that Jesus lives in us by the Holy Spirit.
2
Corinthians 13: 5
Look closely at yourselves. Test yourselves to see if you are living
in the faith. Don’t you realize that Christ Jesus is in you? Of
course, if you fail the test, he is not in you.
We are told that our enemies are defeated because Jesus defeated them and that we belong to God.
1 John
4: 4? My
dear children, you belong to God, so you have already defeated these
false prophets. That’s because the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world.
I believe that if we begin to live our lives based on this new reality the old reality will become less and less active in our lives.
I believe if we live as if we are the temple of God we will sin less, if we live as if we are now citizens of the Kingdom instead of just a future hope that we will live in Heaven (not that is not a good hope but Christ came for us to have an abundant life now. John 10: 10)
I believe if we live as if Jesus is living in us our actions will reflect His.
I believe if we will live as if our enemy was defeated by Jesus Christ we will live a life of victory.
Having said all of that I know how hard it is to live this type of life. I want to encourage you to hang with other believers who have this new view of reality. Eventually you will find yourself living a more abundant life and one that impacts the lives of others beyond what you thought you could.
